Our Story

ANAM Georgia is the U.S.-based extension of the Agape National Academy of Music (ANAM), Liberia’s first and only fully operational music school. Since its founding in 2008, ANAM has provided culturally rooted music education to more than 1,200 students in West Africa.

In 2023, we launched ANAM Georgia to create similar access to opportunity for families and churches in the U.S. While we share a mission with our Liberian counterpart, ANAM Georgia operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit with its own board, programs, and vision tailored to the unique needs of Georgia’s underserved communities.

Director
Ora Gladstone
Retired Music Teacher and Peace Corps Volunteer
Ora Gladstone grew up in Brooklyn, NY, harmonizing with her siblings and parents—her father a professional trumpet player. She studied at the Hebrew Arts School of Music and Dance, where inspiring teachers and early musical experiences led her to pursue a degree in music and a career in music therapy.

In 2017–18, she and her husband served in Liberia with Peace Corps Response, where she taught music in an orphanage and private school, and provided music therapy at JFK Hospital. This experience introduced her to ANAM. After returning to the U.S., she connected with Mr. Tarpeh and became actively involved with the organization.
Ora officially retired in 2020 during the pandemic but continues to support ANAM, learn choral music, and advocate for social justice and workers’ rights. Over the past seven years, she has witnessed ANAM’s remarkable growth and is proud to serve on the Board—grateful for the journey and a devoted supporter of Mr. Tarpeh’s vision.
